Make these craft flowers for teachers. This DIY flower bouquet, made with highlighter markers, is a perfect gift idea for teachers.

A Cute Way to Gift Flowers for Teachers
These super adorable highlighter flowers make the perfect gift for teachers. If you are looking for a craft teacher appreciation gift, here's a fun and cute idea you don't want to miss.
While fresh cut flowers are always a great gift, these craft flowers are cute, practical, and easy for the kids to bring to school. I'm sure their teachers will appreciate the highlighter school supplies too.

Give These Flowers for Teacher Appreciation or Anytime
My kids are giving this DIY bouquet of flowers to their teachers for Valentine's Day. It's a small gesture of appreciation for their teachers. I like it better than giving teachers sweets or candy for this holiday too.
This DIY bouquet makes a great year-round gift. You can give these flowers to teachers for Teacher Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Back to School, or anytime you want to say thank you to teachers.
I created tags that work for various occasions, and you can get the free printable tags below.

What You Need to Make this Craft Flower Bouquet
You'll need the following to make this craft flower bouquet:
- Sharpie pastel tank highlighters
- wool felt flower cut outs
- hot glue gun
- glass jam jar or mug
- ribbon
- teacher appreciation label (get the free printable below)

Do I need tank style highlighter?
The tank style pastel highlighters look the best in these craft flower bouquets. The glossy fat barrels make really cute stems for the felt flowers.
I tested a couple of different slim pastel highlighters when I was making my flower bouquets too. However, I didn't like how they looked. The caps on the slim style highlighters tend to be slanted, and they often have clips. They didn't look as good when I glued the flowers on them.
What flower cut outs can I use?
I love these wool blend felt flower cut outs. They are the ones in the photos. I like that they are made in the USA too. The material has a noticeably nicer touch than other polyester flowers. Plus, the colors match perfectly with the pastel Sharpie highlighters.
These craft flowers come unassembled, but they are so easy and fun to glue together. I have step-by-step pictures below, and my kid helped me assemble them.
You can also make this teacher flower gift with premade felt flowers though. Here are two options: felt flowers with leaves and felt rose flower.
Glass jar for flower bouquet
Upcycled glass jars work perfectly for holding these flower bouquets. Just for reference, six tank style highlighters fit perfectly in one of these Bonne Maman More Fruit, Less Sugar jams jar.
While I don't think any teachers need more mugs, I also stopped by our local thrift store and found a cute mug for another bouquet. Most mugs will hold more than six tank style highlighters, so you can give a few more highlighter marker flowers in them.

How to Make Craft Flowers for Teachers
These DIY flowers are fun and easy to put together. I used these unassembled wool felt flowers, so I'll show you how to make and roll felt flowers.
If you use premade felt flowers, you can just hot glue them directly onto the highlighter caps.

Assemble the felt flowers
Using these wool felt flowers, start rolling and gluing the felt from the outer edge of the cut out.
Keep rolling and gluing the craft flowers a little bit at a time. I add a thin strip of glue about 1cm long along the bottom edge of the flower, then roll that small bit up. Keep repeating that process and the flower will start to take shape.

As you glue and roll, try to keep the bottom of the flower as flat as possible. You can see the bottom of the flower in this picture below.

Once the flower has been fully rolled up, there should be a circle piece remaining. Glue the circle flat against the bottom of the rolled up flower. And that's it, your craft flower is complete.

Glue the flowers onto the highlighters
The next step is to glue the finished DIY flowers onto the highlighter marker barrels. This step is super easy, and my kid did it all by herself.

Place a drop of hot glue on the top of the highlighter marker. Glue the finished felt flower on top. Easy peasy.

Get Ready to Give these DIY Flowers to a Teacher
Here's what the whole flower bouquet will look like when you are done gluing the felt flowers onto the highlighters. They look ready to give to a teacher.
One last step is to add on a little tag. A gift card sticking out of the bouquet would work great. I also made some tags for you to use.

Add a Teacher Appreciation Tag to Your Flowers
