You only need a few basic supplies to make this Washi Tape Valentines:

- stapler or glue dots - either option work
And that's it! Super easy, right?
How to Make Washi Tape Valentines
It's so simple to make this DIY Washi Tape Valentine gift. My four-year-old volunteered to make these, and nearly did it all by herself.
First, choose the washi tape
There are so many different washi tape designs available. I'm sure you'll be able to find the perfect design for your kid.
This is the washi tape we used. It comes in a pack of 48, which is ideal for a class with 24 students. We gave 2 tapes per valentine.
Here are a few other washi tapes that my kids found cool and wanted to get:
Second, print out the valentines
Once you have the washi tape rolls, get the free printable valentine labels below. You'll receive the printable immediately.
I printed the valentines on regular printer paper. To make the valentines fancier, I'd recommend printing it on heavier paper or lightweight card stock. But it's not necessary at all because regular printer paper worked great.
Third, write on your name
Just a heads up that it's easier to write your kid's name on the "From:" field before cutting and stapling the valentine cards to the washi tapes. So go ahead and do that if you can keep your kid from jumping in to the fun part of crafting.
I'll also point out that there is no space to write a "To:" name on this valentines. Our kids' teachers have always asked us to leave the "to:" blank, so I didn't include a spot for it. Kids can simply drop one washi tape valentine into each kids' box, without worrying about names.
Fourth, cut out the valentines
As you can see in the photo, my crafty kid cut out the valentine cards with my handy paper cutter. I like the sliding blade because the kids can't easily cut themselves with it. You can also use regular scissors, or for more fun, squiggly craft scissors.
I didn't include a dotted line for where to cut. That way, the valentines won't have a messy dotted line showing if your kid doesn't cut exactly on the line.
Fifth, staple the valentine around the washi tape
Last, we wrapped the valentines around 2 washi tape rolls each and stapled it shut.
You can see in the photos that we stapled the valentines 2 different ways. One option is to simply staple the ends together. Alternatively, you can overlap one of the ends and then staple the valentines shut in a perfect circle.
If you want to skip the staples, kids always love using glue dots too. Glue dots should be strong enough to hold the washi tape valentines together. A glue stick would also do the trick, but probably not as reliable.
Valentines for Tweens
And that's it! This is a very simple valentines to make for classroom exchanges. If you have a tween and are looking for valentine craft ideas, this is sure to be a hit.
This valentines is easy to put together, and tweens love using washi tape rolls. You can't go wrong giving out this fun valentine gift to a tween.
